I haven't tried any of these so you are
at your own risk!
- Remove wax from a candle holder
It's very easy to remove if you put the
candle holder in the deep freeze for an
hour first. It comes right off.
- Chives - keep them fresh. As
soon as you cut them out of the garden
wash them, then wrap'em in dishtowel
and store them in the fridge.
- Cheap glue Add some gelatin
to a few drops of vinegar. Works great
on wood, glass and porcelain.
- Re-corking a bottle Soak the
cork in hot water or veg. oil for a few
minutes. It will much more easily press
back into the neck of the bottle.
- Make your indoor plant's leaves
shine Once in a while wash the
leaves with a towel soaked in light
colour beer or use beer in a spray
bottle.
- Furniture scratches
Disappear when you rub them with half
of a hazelnut. Must be the oil?
- Leather furniture Looks like
brand new when rubbed with castor oil.
- Simple fertilizer for potted
plants Dissolve a small cube of
baker's yeast to 5 liters of water.
- Easy potato peeling When
cooking whole potatoes add some veg.
oil to the cooking water and the peels
will almost fall off while retaining
all the vitamins in the potato.
- Fluffy pancakes Can be made
when you add half milk, half mineral
water to the recipe.
- Tasty pork roast? Try adding
some juniper berries to your roasting
pan.
- Clean drain pipes Throw left
over coke or pepsi down the drain.
- Cleaning solid stove elements
Pour a teaspoon of salt on the element
and rub in the salt with a towel.
They'll look like brand-new!
- Cheap Rose fertilizer Cut up
banana peels and stuff them in the
earth around the rose plant.
- Moles in your garden? Stuff
some dog hair in each of their holes.
The smell of dog will become so potent
in their tunnels that they will search
for another yard to dig holes.
- Soft skin like a baby's bottom?
Wash your face in rose water in the
morning and evening.
- Soft finger nails? Rub fresh
lemon juice on your nails.
- Brittle finger nails? Warm
up virgin olive oil and soak your
fingers in the warm oil for at least 10
minutes.
- Wrinkles around the eyes? Try
black tea bags on your closed eyes
after making your tea (let the bag cool
first!). Or cook some parsley in little
water, soak paper towels or towelets in
the parsley soup and let sit on the
eyelids.
- Rheumatism? Of course check
Devil's Claw products from www.ferlowbrothers.com
, otherwise try rubbing the sore joint
with a freshly halved potato.
