Stain Removal

Tip #1: My friend Erik Quist says that CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) works great on water stains. I've seen it work really well for removing mineral deposits that clock your shower head. Simply fill a small container large enough to submerse the shower head, pour CLR in and let the CLR soak for a while. Next time you try your shower it will be as good as new instead of spurting water all over the place.

Tip #2: I've tried another stain remover that is only partially successful with most stains but can work wonder with spilled wine and other organic stains and that's the brand OxiClean. It is basically a mineral salt that is the basis of most laundry detergents. It didn't work on bathroom tile stains as they advertise though. You can find it at WalMart.

Tip #3: Vinegar works great on red wine and pet stains in carpet. (white vinegar only!!) Soak the area with some vinegar and then soak up the liquid. Rinse with some water and again blot out the liquid with paper towels.

More tips to come.
