Where can you get Northshore Trails information? The best place is the local bike shops. They will sell you maps of the particular areas you're interested in. The areas I've ridden are SFU in Burnaby and Grouse Mountain and parts of Cypress Mountain. SFU is a learning area with mild to medium difficulty trails and there is a small play area just to the north-east of the main road up to SFU at the bottom of the mountain. Many trails lead from there and most bikers park their vehicles on the main road there. You can't miss it. Grouse Mountain trails can be found by driving up Mountain Hwy up through Lynn Valley all the way to the end up the mountain (north) past the 5 way traffic light intersection. Park your vehicle somewhere near the yellow forestry gate and ride up the main gravel road past the forest gate up the hill. There are numerous trails that go off in all directions. Some of the trailheads are sign-posted. These are medium to extreme difficulty trails. Cypress Mountain is generally known for hard-core ultra-extreme difficulty trails. There aren't as many trails as Grouse Mountain though and the trailheads are harder to find for riders unfamiliar with the area. Have fun and ride safe. |
