I thought someone might be interested in the results of my ongoing info
gathering.

Today I called Rockford as suggested by Charles. They said that I could get
the following:

36" ball screw 3/4" major diameter with 5 revolutions per inch and 0.003
in/foot accuracy with two ends turned
18" same as above but only with one end turned
two prealoaded, zero backlash ball nuts
two wipers
two flanges

for $843.50 US dollars. (Any vendors reading with a lower price please feel
free to spam me!)

I think these are more expensive than the Bridgeport refit ballscrews ($650)
because mine would be custom whereas they probabably have lots for
Bridgeports in stock.
