ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Product Marketing

  • Developed technical and marketing requirements for new two-way pager and telemetry products by surveying customers, partners and performing competitor and market analysis.
  • Improved the product pricing model of the cost of delivering technical support services to customers by developing a cost estimation model using Monte Carlo simulation.
  • Initiated and created the product positioning and messaging for technical support and services packages.
  • Reduced the cost of managing end-of-life software by streamlining the order entry and product delivery system.

Marketing Analysis

  • Focused corporate strategy on key European market segments by performing market and competitor analysis, and recommending a course of action to increase revenues in that market.
  • Reduced customer confusion about the product offering and product positioning by researching best practices, surveying customers and developing new technical content for the corporate website.
  • Expedited the business case analysis for a new telemetry device by identifying target markets, surveying potential customers, doing market research and competitor analysis.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Technical Marketing Specialist, Spectrum Signal Processing, Burnaby, BC, 2003 – 2004 Spectrum Signal Processing develops software reconfigurable high density wireless communications products for the military communications and signal intelligence markets. Revenues were $35M in 2003. Provided technical expertise to the marketing department, introduced new financial modeling techniques to Product Management and Sales for estimating future revenues as well as current costs of delivering services.

  • Developed and presented plan to Spectrum’s executive for doubling European sales revenues, and increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Improved sales force effectiveness by developing new sales tools and marketing collateral and organizing them into an intranet based portal for easy off-site access.
  • Lead and implemented a project to overhaul the content of Spectrum’s website.
  • Increased Spectrum’s thought-leadership by writing case studies of the use of Spectrum’s equipment by customers. A NASA case study will be published in compactPCI Journal in July/ August 2004 issue. See More Details

Systems Engineer, Glenayre Electronics, Vancouver, BC, 2000 – 2001 Glenayre develops voice mail and wireless communication infrastructure equipment. Revenues were $130M in 2001. Provided the systems engineering support for product management and marketing for two way paging infrastructure products and telemetry devices.

  • Recommended strategies for positioning paging technology for wireless telemetry applications after researching competing wireless technologies including GSM and CDMA.
  • Gathered technical and business requirements for new wireless devices and applications by meeting with potential customers and partners, and made recommendations to product management. See More Details

Product Marketing Engineer, Glenayre Electronics, Vancouver, BC, 1999 – 2000 Provided engineering support for two way paging infrastructure products to product management. Main technical point of contact between the customer and the engineering department for product beta testing.

  • Created new product documentation, marketing collateral, and application notes.

Project Engineer, Glenayre Electronics, Vancouver, BC, 1996 – 1999 Responsible for the technical design, staging and field installation of wireless communication systems in Japan and China. Main technical point of contact between the customer and the engineering department.

  • Created new documentation templates, system manuals and field installation manuals.

Matsuoka & Co. prepare US and European patent applications for large Japanese electronics companies. Prepared and wrote an average of 40 patent applications per year in the camera and optoelectronic arts.
