Welcome to my little corner of the world. I hope you enjoy your visit and extend an invitation to come watch my site develop and grow. Please forward your comments, questions, and suggestions! It will be nice to hear from you. This website is dedicated to all the intelligent people in the world who know a great computer when they see one!. You, and you alone, are the creative and independent people who avoid the mainstream, run-of-the-mill world and spend a lifetime in the pursuit of excellence! You, for example, being the kind and thoughtful parent you are, would most likely have given your child a Bin Laden Blow-up toy this past Christmas instead of Billy's Windows. Perhaps they're the same thing!?
Speaking of Binny! And while we're at it!
In all honesty, I really don't dislike the PCs as much as much as you may think. Everyone should own a PC once in their life. The PCs are a real work of art. Where did Bill ever get the idea for such a marvellous technological innovation? Seriously, here's some great information on Windows .
I've worked with both platforms at home as well as on the job. Working with both the Mac OS and PC Windows platforms (including servers), I've learned that both systems have their drawbacks (can't believe that I just said that). And of course no one is ever pressured into using one platform over another in schools and in the business community. Wrong! Click on pressured above if you missed it. Note how fiction becomes reality!
Software availability for the PCs (thanks to Billy and company) is a plus for the PC owner. Network security issues, however, have most PC network administrators pulling their hair on a regular basis. Total network security does not exist on the PC platform.
Ever notice how calm the Mac owners are when the latest virus has invaded our safe and comfortable technological planet. PC owners shudder at the slightest mention of the big V word.
I've taught in what's known in some parts of the world as a middle school or Junior High school and was one of the network administrators of a dual platform network. Can you imagine turning 12 to 15 year olds loose on a 170 station network, and trying to survive? You think you have problems at the office Bruce! Seriously, though, I really enjoyed working with Windows. Most of our time (waking hours) was spent on trying to keep the PCs running. It's amazing what these kids can get into with a little background knowledge. The Macs, were used as extensively as the PCs at the school, just 'kept on ticking'. Security, a definite negative for the PCs.
Multimedia and graphic design work is far superior on the Mac. Yes, I know the PCs have come a long way, but are still years behind the Mac. Come on, admit it, you know I'm right. Even the most avid PC disciples choose a Mac when venturing into the world of multimedia. By the way Fred, did you know that most of the big Hollywood film studios use a Mac platform 10 to 1. Apple's advancements in the area of video and audio editing leaves the PCs in the dust (oops - I'm trying not to be negative). I've extensively used the new PC video editing software in order to compare it to the Mac iMovie and Final Cut Pro3 ( no I won't say). Yes I will! The PC software is years behind. PC lovers are rejoicing because they are slowing moving in the nineties! So which computer is more powerful?
Probably the most irritating aspect of the ongoing Mac and Windows debate is the fact that people who have never worked in a Mac environment are the most outspoken about how bad the Macs are! Go figure! The on going Mac vs PC debate continues. People are creatures of habit, and what we're comfortable with is always considered better than the dreaded unknown. Some people equate comfort level with quality (ya think?). If I don't understand it - I don't like it!
That's why our parents drove either a Chevy or a Ford in the 50's and 60's (alright, some drove Chryslers as well). A Chevy owner wouldn't be caught dead admiring. or worse yet, driving a Ford. We've just taken this debate to the next level. So come on all you Chevy drivers, give the Ford guy a chance. And you, the guy with the Ford pick-up (with the built-in gun rack), give the Chevy guys a break.
It is interesting to note that people who have made the transition to the Mac platform would rather die than go back to a PC. But don't get me started on that issue. Some Mac owners appear to be dangerously close to cult status. Beware PC owners, some of these Mac Groups have taken up residence in Afghanistan or Iraq and have taken to wearing long beards -the men that is. Mac Al Qaeda groups. Who would have thought? What's with the T-shirts and monthly Mac meetings??
Signs You Have a PC:
1. Lower corner of screen has the words "Etch-A-Sketch" on it.
2. In order to start it you need some jumper cables and a friend's car.
3. Whenever you turn it on all the dogs in your neighborhood start howling.
4. The manual contains only one sentence: "Good Luck!
5. The only chip inside is a Dorito.
Question: How many steps does it take the PC owner to do the same thing that it takes the Mac owner to do in three steps?
Answer: 8!
PowerBooks, iBooks and AirPort technology! And how about the new iMac, I mean the new iMac - have a look. and be amazed! But don't let the guy in the pick-up truck catch you. I hear he's got a gun. Heaven help us all!
