It was claimed that its energetic action had resulted in the complete reversal of the Government's policy towards amusements. The Rev. T. Horne, the Showmen's Chaplain and Secretary of the Guild, remarked, that entertainments of all kind were now welcomed by the Government. "We are winning the war," he said, and heartening and encouraging and brightening the lives of the actual fighters and the workers who are maintaining the fight by their industry in providing war material and munitions. The Vice-President, Mr. Marshall Hill, said that about 200 fairs had been allowed to lapse, and the first duty of the guild after the war would be to restore them.
