Rise of the Darksbane Empire
Many a year ago, towards the end of the Age of Chaos, there lived a young man named Savinus. His original last name has been lost
in history, and we now know him as the name he took for his empire: Savinus Darksbane. He was strong and virtuous, and truly a
man among men. His combat skills were second to none, but he devoted them singly to ridding the world of evil. Together with Darkslayer,
a magical mace that some say to be an incarnation of Arinus himself, he became a paladin and established a great empire, nearly
encompassing the entire continent of Anor. He drove monsters, from kobolds to shards to the dragons themselves, into hiding. Eventually,
though, he had to die, as everyone does. His son, equally as great as his father in every way, journeyed to the same sacred cave
where Savinus first received Darkslayer. There, he too was made a paladin of Arinus, and he returned to take the throne of the Darksbane
Empire. Since then, it has been a rite of passage for each new king to make the same journey.
Not much to add. It should be noted that Darkslayer is simply a holy avenger in the form of a mace, plus of course the
symbol of the empire. More detail on its powers will be added when I do the magical weapons and items section.
Savinus originally hailed from a small town where Erandor now lies. The sacred cave is located in the Regnumina
Mountains, just a little to the northwest.
