Morgaelin
'Morgaelin' is believed to have a double meaning: it roughly translates to Daemon's Fang in the old tongue. It was so named for being the center of their invasion during the
Shadow Wars, as well as the fact that it is immensely tall, pointed, and an active volcano. However, it could also have been derived
from the Elven words 'morgul' (black arts) and 'lin' (pool or mire) - literally, a stagnant pool of blackness.
It lies on a large island, a few hundred miles to the northwest of Atuesta. It is surrounded by a blasted wasteland, which is in
turn ringed by a small range of mountains
and then the sea. During the Age of Dreams, there was a small town nearby, but it was burnt to the ground by N'aitar in 3694. The
town is only noteworthy for the fact that its few survivors escaped on the first known airship, built by a local inventor/boatmaker.
Since the Shattering, many people have come to refer to the island that it rests on by the same name, as the meaning has been somewhat forgotten. The
island was greatly expanded in area during the Shattering, when pieces of the smallest moon were slammed into it. (see also Makaan, under Places of Interest).
