Health and Medication Policies

Health Policy

Children who are ill cannot attend the centre. Any child who has an undiagnosed rash, is vomiting, has diarrhea, a fever, or a colored discharge may not attend. Any child who displays any of these symptoms at the centre will be sent home. A child may return with a medical practitioner's note stating the child is in good health or if the child has been symptom free for the previous 24 hours.

Head Lice Policy

If it is discovered that a child has head lice, the parents will be contacted and requested to pick up their child. The child may return to the centre 24 hours after a treatment was applied, and no nits or head lice are visible.

Please inform the staff should your child develop a communicable disease or condition such as measles, chicken pox, or head lice.

Toileting Policy

All children that attend Parkdale Early Childhood Centre are required to be toilet trained. When a child has an accident a staff member will assist the child change into dry clothes. The soiled clothes will be placed in a plastic bag and put in the child's cubby for parents to bring home. Parents will be informed about the soiled clothes. If toileting accidents are ongoing staff will discuss the issue with the parent and an attempt to toilet train the child must be made by the parent as soon as possible.

Medications

Staff are only permitted to administer those medications that are prescribed by a physician and in the original container. In addition, parents are required to complete a permission to administer medication form before that medication will be administered.
