PARISH LISTS AND GROUPS

 

    • Develop updated parish list including all Catholics in your parish.
    • Divide your parish into small groups / zones (30 to 50 households each)
      • for Parishes Missionary Team visits
      • to develop Listening Centre groups & venues

PARISH MISSIONARY TEAM

 

          Your Parishes Missionary Team is prepared through 3 or 4 workshops, sensitizing them to their responsibilities in the mission process:


o     The Parish Missionary Team conducts the first two home visits of the Mission.
       During the third visit they accompany and introduce the Oblate Missionary Team in the homes.

o     This Parish Missionary Team is the beginning of a parish outreach/evangelization program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

THE MISSION

HOME VISITS (3 visits):
  • Parish Missionary Team visits all homes
    • 1st visit: 1 to 2 months prior to the Mission when they deliver a letter of invitation to the mission from the director of the Oblate Missionary Team.
    • 2nd visit: 1 to 3 weeks prior to the Mission, to deliver the Mission schedule.
  • Oblate Missionary Team accompanied by the Parish Missionary Team
    • 3rd visit: during the mission, to personally invite the people of the parish to the mission, pray with and bless them.
THE MISSION EVENT (10 to 14 days)
    • Days: Eucharist, Sacraments (of Reconciliation and of the Sick), Prayer and Home Visits.
    • Evenings:
      • Listening Centres (3 evenings) Scripture and faith sharing with the small groups, in predetermined homes.
      • Great Assemblies (5 to 6 evenings) of proclaiming our faith, in the church.

       

 

 

MISSION FOLLOW-UP

 

For up to 3 years - an annual visit by the Oblate Missionary Team

  • some home visits
  • visiting the active Listening Centres
  • Great Assemblies (3 to 4 evenings)

What is the length of the Mission?

  • 10 days - Smaller parishes approximately 450 households or less.
  • 2 weeks (14 days) - Large parishes over 400 households.
  • Great Assemblies (3 to 4 evenings)
  • How much Preparation Time is Required?

    • 10 to 14 months minimum.

    What are the Parish's Commitments?

    • Personal commitment and involvement to the Mission process by the pastor and parish council.
    • Provide for the needs of the Oblate Missionary Team and Behold the Lamb during the mission.
    • Cover costs of the Mission Team.

    Who is the Oblate Mission Team?

    The Missionary Oblates were founded by St. Eugene de Mazenod to re-evangelize the 19th century world. Now, in the 21st century the Oblates, with the help of lay and religious missionaries, are committed to a new evangelization of our modern-day parishes.
