Janet Heskins, I have done a lot of research on the HESKINS' of Wotton-under-Edge. They were there from the earliest parish records and before. Two family members, both by the name of Nicholas, grandfather and grandson, were mayors of the town in the seventeenth century. The family was middle class, being associated with the OKES, FORTUNEs, FRANCOMBEs, PHILLIMORES of Cam and others. The last two to be buried, early in the eighteenth century were both described as gents.

James Turner, What I'm interested in doing is writing a personal history on Thomas TURNER, but I don't have too much information. It would be interesting if I could find more history of the area so I could get a feel for what life would have been like for him. I know that in 1849 he joined the Mormon church and then in 1854 he left England and came to the United States. Do you know if there are any personal histories or journals of people from the 1830 that I might be able to get access to?

The FRY `s were listed as plasterers in the Tetbury and Wotton Under Edge census 1851. TwoÊFRY families descended from the above moved to Australia in 1856 and 1857Ê I would appreciate any connections or information of the FRY family descendants who remained in Gloucestershire.

John Ardussi, I am researching my mother's family from Wotten under Edge. Family surname was MOSS. They were not wealthy and left Wotten in the late 1800's for Canada and the US. On a recent visit to Wotten records office I found my grandmother Rose and great grandmother Mathilda listed in the census of about 1891, I think it was. I think they also had relatives in the early 20th century in Bath.

Alison Simcox, My grandmother, Margaret TILLEY, was born in Wotton-under-Edge in 1892. Her father was Frederick William TILLEY, born in 1866 and married to a Neal. That's about all I know, but would love to learn more. I do know that there were quite a few TILLEY's in Wotton-under-Edge in the 19th century, including a Charles and Elizabeth TILLEY who had about 20 children (probably 2 wives!). Any information is welcome.

Michael Sykes. My line comes from Uley but families have been found in Owlpen, Dursley, Cam, Horsley, Wotton-under-Edge, The "Stanleys". Many believed non-Conformists so difficult to link in some 30 parallel lines. Happy to share information with all BALING, BAGLEN, BAGLING, BAGLAND researchers. Note 1881 and 1901 Census transcriptions often show them as Baylin!

Nicolas Danican, I directly descend from John TROTMAN, baptized on 20 February 1769 at North Nibley and married at Wotton on 1 June 1794. His daughter Mary TROTMAN (1796-1880) emigrated to Le Havre, France and have many descendants.

Laurel Spencer Busch, I'm researching SPENCER from about 1800 to 1857 (brick wall: from where, when, and why did they come to W-U-E?) and HOWELL from 1863 back. Charles Gill, Have been trying to find any info re history of Wooten-Under-Edge and the CANDY family . I am a descendant of John & James CANDY, Both born in Frome, Somerset circa 1801/03, both moved to Wooten-Under-Edge abt 1825. Both Transported to Tasmania 1830 for stealing a bolt of cloth.Ê I would be grateful for any info.
