Johan Winsser, researching the DYER and GRAFTON families of Alveston, Olveston, Thornbury, and vicinity, 17th century and earlier only please. There are many DYER's in this neck of the woods, and thus very difficult to figure out their family trees. I have several DYER and GRAFTON trees I am trying to connect, built primarily on parish register entries and probate records. In particular I am looking for a William DYER who left the area and moved to Lincolnshire soon prior to 1606. Any help is much appreciated.

Jayne Williams, researching my family history and have found out from the 1881 census that my GGGrandfather Henry GOUGH was born in Thornbury Gloucs. I dont know if anyone else has a similar interest but as I have hit a brick wall regarding his birth registration. In 1881 his given age is 42 so I presume he was born around 1839. I have as yet been unable to find him in the 1851 census - I believe his family may have moved on from Thornbury by then. Are there any 1841 census records available? Perhaps I could locate him there.

Elaine Blackwell, researching the BALL family. I'm trying desperately to find anything on my great great grandfather James Augusta BALL.Ê He was supposed to have been born in Bristol around 1839, but we've been unable to find any record of him anywhere. His parents are unknown, but we do know that his son, Norman, named both his house and his own son "Thornbury", which may indicate a connection there.ÊThere are supposed to be inscriptions in St Mary's churchyard for Henry BALL, 9 Mar 1892, 74, 1818 & Mary, 8 Sept 1903, 84, 1819.Ê James migrated to Australia before 1861.
