John Crates, researching all
CRATES, anywhere, anytime. More specifically, I have registrations of baptisms in Saul of 5 children, all with parents John & Ann CRATES, 1776 Timothy, 1791 James, 1793 Sarah, 1795 Thomas & 1800 John. The odd thing is that I have found no trace of any references to these names claiming Saul as their birthplace. I have a John and Thomas with comparable birthdates, each marrying a Lovell bride in Bristol, each being millwrights and each claiming birth in Bristol, and suspect these might be the same as the Saul family. This is a real block for me and ANY more info on CRATES in the vicinity of Saul would be invaluable.

Garrett Prestage. I am researching the surnames
PRESTAGE and PUDSEY from Clifton in Bristol. William PRESTAGE was a shoemaker living in Clifton in 1817 when he died. His wife was Ann PUDSEY and their children were Nathanael, Elizabeth & John. The boys were listed as attending the Boys School in Clifton between 1819 & 1825, but in 1825 the family seems to have moved from the area. I have so far been unable to locate William and Ann's marriage records or the birth records for any of their children (Nathanael was probably born about 1811, Elizabeth about 1812, & John about 1816).
