Michael Petrie, My family is linked to this area through the PETRIE and LARGE families in the early 1800s. The PETRIE name has variously been mis-transcribed as Preater, Peatrs, and Patrie in the various census and other records. I am particularly interested in finding documents and early photographs that may show family members and life in the 1800s. The first petrie in Sherborne was David PETRIE (Patrie) who was born in 1806 in Scotland Š where in Scotland I donÕt know. David married Mary LARGE, and his only sons to marry, married Emma JACKSON and Emma MARGETTS. David was a gardener, and his wife and daughters were laundresses, presumably at Sherborne House.
