It gives everyone an opportunity to learn their cars' capabilities, in a safe, controlled environement.

Morrisport Advanced Driving instructors are highly experienced professionals, with safety, education
and knowledge as their top priorities.

Q:  How does this program compare to other programs?
A:  The Inside Line offers:
We offer a safe and educational environment for a fun lapping experience.

Q:  What will I gain from attending The Inside Line program?
A:   The Inside Line offers:

Q:  What will the day consist of?
A:  This is a general outline, subject to change without notice.  All sessions start at 7:30am.
Afternoon sessions are devoted to:

Q:  What happens when I first arrive?
A:  Everyone must sign waivers upon entry.  The attendant at the gate will distribute forms.  Your car will then proceed to a technical inspection.  You will then be directed towards the pit area where you will park in the next available spot.  Please remove any loose items from your car at this point.  You may bring along a rubber box to keep your loose belongings in to keep them dry, however, we are not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Q: How does the flag system work?
A: The instructors will review with everyone on the functionality and purpose of each flag.  You must understand these flags before lapping can begin.

GREEN - indicates the the Start of the session, the course is clear.

YELLOW - Held stationary - Danger ahead, no passing.  Be prepared for a waving yellow.  If all stations are yellow, be ready for a RED flag at the start / finish area.  NO PASSING, extreme danger, prepare to stop.

RED - Conditions on the track warrant stopping the session - Stop IMMEDIATELY as safely as possible.

BLACK - Furled flag shown at the start / finish area is a warning that an infraction has been committed.  An Open BLACK flag displayed with a point means the driver must slow down, finish the current lap and stop in the pit.

MEATBALL (Black with an Orange Circle) - Indicates a mechanical problem with the car; SLOW DOWN and return to the pit.

BLUE (or BLUE with a diagonal Yellow stripe) - When held stationary, it means you are being followed closely by a faster car.  When waved it means a faster car is about to pass you, please MAKE ROOM for them to pass.

YELLOW / RED Striped - Slippery conditions ahead (oil, water, gravel) or debris on the track.

CHECKERED - The lapping session is finished.  No Passing, this is a cool down lap.

Q:  Do I need a modified car to participate?

A:  We have many participants who drive unmodified cars.  It is unnecessary to spend a lot of money on after-market parts in order participate.  You will learn what is beneficial to your car's handling abilities after taking a program such as The Inside Line.  An overly modified car can sometimes amplify your mistakes.  Start off simple and you will learn faster.

Q:  What should I do to prepare for The Inside Line?
A:  The following is a check-list

Get a good night's rest
Remove all loose objects from the interior such as floor mats, umbrellas, air freshners
Full tank of gas
Make sure your car is running well
Even tire pressure and minimum 50% tread
Brakes should be in good working condition with minimum 50% pad-life remaining
No loose objects in engine bay (intakes, battery)
Fluid levels topped-up
No leaks on your car
Ensure lug nuts are tight, no loose wheels / wheel bearings
*Bring lock nut keys if necessary

Q:  Are helmets provided?
A:  We have some loaner helmets for our students, but you are also welcome to bring your own open-faced or closed-face helmet.  It must be Snell 95 approved or newer.

Q: Do I need a roll cage?
A: No, you do not need one to participate.  However, convertibles must have rollover protection.  This must be a functional roll bar that must pass the technical inspection.  Style or fashion bars that are not approved or functional are not allowed.  OEM pop up style bars on some cars are allowed.

Q: I'd like to invest in some personal gear for future lapping days.  What would make my tracks days more enjoyable?
A: Many people overlook proper footwear for motorsports.  Having properly fitted shoes not only ensures comfort, but they make "feeling" the pedals much easier.  Proper driving shoes have thin soles and outers so that you have a more tactile connection with your car.  They come in many different styles such as low and high cuts, and have a snug but comfortable fit.  Shoes can greatly improve your response time and provide safety for not only yourself but other drivers too.

A helmet is obviously a good first purchase, it would be fitted specifically for you and you don't have to share your personal helmet with others.  Before buying a helmet, make sure your helmet is sized properly.  Never buy a helmet without trying it on first.  See an authorized retailer such as Drivers Edge Autosport for proper fitment.
Ensure that it is approved for automotive use, they can be open or closed face designs.  Helmets are dated in production and they are usually approved for several years of use.  Check for the date and rating inside the helmet.

Q:  Will the program be cancelled if it rains?
A:  The Inside Line runs rain-or-shine, so come prepared with a hat, sunscreen, warm clothing, umbrellas, etc.

Q:  How much horsepower do I need?
A:  A slower car will not impede your full enjoyment of the program.  Drivers are grouped according to experience and the car's capabilities.

Cars and drivers are usually classified into groups based on driver experience and horsepower, as well as front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations.

Q:  What if I have no experience?
A:  This is the perfect class for you.  There are many new drivers of all ages and backgrounds who participate in The Inside Line program.  You will join other beginners to work on basic skills.

Q:  I have some auto-cross and other track experience -- will this program benefit me?
A:  This is a great course for experienced drivers.  It will allow you to improve your existing skills as well as offer you one-on-one time with a professional driver / instructor.  Many experienced drivers don't realise they have bad driving habits; our instructors will show you new techniques to help improve your driving skills.

Q:  Are we allowed to bring passengers?
A:  For everyone's safety, passengers are not permitted.

Q:  Are cameras allowed?
A:  In-car video cameras are only permitted with industry-approved camera mounts.  Home-made mounts, such as external cameras and dashboard cameras are prohibited, for your own safety.  Video taping and picture-taking of your run is permitted near the start area and grandstands only.
