PAMELA LAMBERT-BARNES

  ABOUT  the BARNES  CAREER  CRAFTS

I like to try new things so this page is sure to be filled with a variety of things that are happening at the Barnes Home: like how my table looked for a holiday meal, our holidays, the dogs and our life!

Here's an interesting visual. Our curent home is blue. And our new house will be red. We are going for a Barn look, with black wrought iron fixtures, barn style doors and a real Old English Style.

Back when I ran my gallery, I had these folksy Raku ceramic houses by Susan Delatour in a variety of colors. For my own collection these were brought home. I loved them. I think Susan modeled these homes after Scottish Anstruther Houses.

While we're on the subject of my new home... I just picked out the slabs for my counters. Glenn and I have to pick up the last few appliances and approach a new closet company!!

Anyway, it's an idea of what to expect.

April 21st 2011

I completed the Vancouver Sun Run on Sunday April 17th with a time of 1 hour 4 minutes and 22 seconds. It was my 7th time completing the race. Not a bad time - better than my last entry but not as great as my best time (60 minutes and 14 seconds).

It was a cold morning and I wanted a better outcome than my 2008 run where I had a bad asthma attack from 5 km onward (finishing time of 1.11.22). This time I wore better technical clothing and we arrived after 9.30 am and several waves had started... which wasn't bad because my chip would start timing me until I crossed the start line but not good because I had to break through over 10,000 walkers.

At first, passing the walkers was a rush. Then it became tiresome, dodging left and hopping up curbs on the right. Around 5 km, the walkers were feeling defeated and the air was heavy along with their steps. Had to pump up my music and tell myself: I wasn't tired!! I trained 11 km last week. I can do this and faster.

MOVE!!! On your left... on your right. Okay people, its 9 km! The last KM. MOVE TO ONE SIDE SO THE RUNNERS CAN RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, so I wasn't so graceful at the end.

April 15th 2012 is the next Sun Run... and so it begins.

Here's my sun run pic... can't figure out where it was taken along the run so I can't provide a distance marker. I think somewhere after Stanley Park because I've stripped down a layer. Might be half way?

Here's a lovely pic - we were out shopping on Mother's Day... I think. Looking for landscaping plants for our front yard. We have decided on a Dogwood Tree out front our home. That's right folks - Canuck Red house color and a Dogwood tree. Are we patriotic or what? National and Provincial symbols. Anyway, these are zinnia's I think and won't be going in but beautiful none the less.

Here's an image from Campbell River... We were over there May 13th to May 16th. Celebrating Glenn's 38th birthday (he had a fishing trip out on a Boston Whaler) and I indulged in an early anniversary spa at April Point Lodge. I won best gift. He didn't catch nothing... I have great skin, beautiful toes and am still relaxed!!!

Yoshi and Yukon in downtown Campbell River - Oonah is off toddling around behind me while Glenn fishes. Yukon is always on the alert, while Yoshi sits down at every opportunity.

Here's a pic of my new home under construction. This is truly an unfair picture - garbage in the front and not a full image. Can't think why I was so close but anyway... there's my office off to the left of the main door and our garage (sung in operatic voice).

Here's our backyard view. That is a green belt with a public trail running through it. So, we have a bit of green lawn (for the kids to play on) and a bit of protected green space beyond that which will always look lovely and we don't have to maintain!!! Best of both worlds.

Aren't these the cutest shoes? Oonah is toddling around in them and I wanted to remember them forever.
