Management

Richard Barry has nine years of technical and project management experience with GIS and has an additional 10 years of experience in the natural resource and tourism industries.  Richard has held management positions in two GIS consulting firms located in British Columbia and is now owner and GIS Analyst for Pacific GIS Consulting.  Richard uses various GIS packages including workstation Arc/Info and ArcView, for environmental and land-use planning related projects.  Some of this experience includes:

Geographical systems are constantly evolving and the requirements and priorities of GIS clients tend to evolve as well.  Richard’s experience with GIS project management makes him sensitive to the dynamic nature of GIS projects.  Richard’s experience enables him to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical clients, enabling the client to see project requirements in the context of the system framework.  Richard works with clients to achieve solutions that satisfy the changing needs of clients while meeting the operational and financial constraints of the GIS system or project.
