Irene M. Ledsham

Irene, born in Scotland, came to Edmonton in 1964.

Always fond of animals, her art began with a German Shepherd, "Timber, the family pet, and since has amassed to well over 300 animal images. These images have been produced in cards, prints, bookmarks, fridge magnets and coasters.

Irene's talent for drawing is a natural gift, having no formal training. What transpires from her work is her love and understanding of animals. Her drawings are natural charming and full of personality. The texture of the hair, the sparkle in the eyes, the character and individuality,this has become her trademark.

Irene has completed more than 280 private commisions including one for a Canadian Cabinet Minister. Her originals are in many private collections in Canada, the U.S., Britain, Japan and New Zealand. Her "Loon", the state bird of Minnesota, hangs proudly in the Canadian Consulate in Minneapolis.

Irene's "Our Animals™" products sell from coast to coast in Canada, the U.S., Britain and Europe. She, and her husband, owned their own Art Gallery for 18 years and now enjoy life at home with their numerous pets.
