Below is a list of keystrokes for the Talking Calculator.  I haven't checked all of the keystrokes to make sure they work, although the ones I did try are fine. 

 

The list is quite long and your student may want to work with only some of the commands.  The program includes calculating in various bases and calculating with very large numbers (up to about 100,000 digits), also other items which may not be needed.  Playing the music of a graph can be fun, but again may not be of interest.

Generally: To type a new number in any textbox click the End button (button means key) to move the cursor to the end of the number that is there, then Backspace till you delete all the digits to the beginning of the number, then type the digits or characters for the new number, then click Enter for Done.

Generally:  In any textbox you can click the right mouse button to get a drop down menu that includes Undo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Select All.

Generally: Characters is a general term for all symbols, digits are single number characters, 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and in other bases may include A,B,C,D, etc.

In all windows:

Press Alt W For Changing Windows, then a number from 1 to 6:

(1) Tcalc window (Calculator Window):

Press control key, then the following key to perform an operation.

So:

      Press Control A for add

      Press Control S for subtract, or Control m for minus

Press Control = for equals

      Press Control m for multiply

Press Control D or Control / for dividing

Press Control Q for mod

      Press Control P for power ^ e.g. x^y

      Press Control I or \ for integer divide

      Press Control X for sin

      Press Control Y for Cosine

      Press Control Z for Tangent

      Press Control U for arc sin

      Press Control V for arc Cosine

      Press Control W for arc Tangent

      Press Control L for Log

      Press Control K for x^N --> inverse Log

      Press Control N for Natural log (ln)

      Press Control E for x^e --> inverse natural ln

      Press Control F for Factorial

      Press Control 4 for store into memory

      Press Control 5 for add to memory

      Press Control 6 for Recall memory

      Press Control 7 for Clear memory

Press Control H for Inverse x --> 1/x

Enter will clear the number.

 

To Change the sign for a number from positive to negative or negative to positive press the Control minus key.  The minus key toggles between the negative and the positive sign.

 

Press F2 to access the talking commands

    Press F1, then Press another key to see what function it performs.

    Press F2, then Press zero for a summary of present talking values.

Press Alt G For Choice of Voice including Gender, then press numbers 1 to 9, 0, or the minus sign to choose the voice.

      Press alt G then press 4 for Whisperer voice

      Press alt G then press 5 for Echo Female voice

Click as often as necessary.  This will give the beginning position of the characters wanted.  Press F3, then H to find them all – When done the voice will give the total number of repeats of the characters. Press Enter when done.

For the following 5 items: Press the up arrow key to increase the number and the down arrow key to decrease the number.  If you hold down these keys the numbers will change faster.  For the musical instrument (I) the voice will say what musical instrument is chosen.

 

   Press F3 then Press I For changing musical instrument.

         Press F3 then Press V For Music Volume.

         Press F3 then Press O For Octave Number.

         Press F3 then Press S For Left to Right Speakers.

   Press F3 then Press P To play rising pitch from 0 to 140.

 

The original settings for the above are: midi-channel = 14, for my computer it is the best channel (you may not want to change it), L-midi-pan-R = 64, Midi-Volume = 10, Octave = 2, Midi-Patch Instrument = 10

 

         Press F3 then Press Q Pause between notes.

         Press F3 then Press T For stop Talking.  Press F3 to talk again.

         Press Alt W For Changing Windows:
