Torres forced the overtime with his second power-play goal of the game, beating Dan Cloutier with 23 seconds left in regulation.
Torres and Hemsky beat Cloutier in the shootout, while Vancouver's Markus Naslund and Todd Bertuzzi failed in their attempts against Jussi Markkanen.
Shawn Horcoff also scored in regulation for the Oilers.
Naslund had two power-play goals and also assisted on Sami Salo's goal for Vancouver, which was 3-for-12 with the man advantage.
The Oilers lost star forward Ryan Smyth in the first period because of a sprained left knee, and power-play point man Jarret Stoll limped off in the second after a crushing hit from Bryan Allen.
