I was in China the week the "challenge" was issued and there are worse places to be than in China to take pictures of "red." Red is a "big" color in China. It may be called "Red China" for political reasons, but red is also big karma in China.

The flag of the PRC.

Lanterns hang in front of all restaurants.

We were in downtown Harbin one day and there was an outdoor fashion show. Luck would have it that one of the young girls wore a red gown.

We drove to Chahayang in the very northwest of Heilongjiang Province. Every evening many people came to the main town square to dance. They performed to the music from the band below ... complete with a red drum.  This picture was taken after sunset at ISO 1600.

What a coincidence! I was out walking at about 5:30 one morning and I came across this man with a red hat AND red socks.

Some sort of raspberry-sized red fruit.

Pigeon is popular fare in China. Smoked pigeon is delicious. Many signs are red in China.

This bicycle repair man was mad that I took his picture. Most people are pleased to cooperate when I ask. This time I took the picture without asking..then he looked up and yelled at me. I could not resist the 'red' inner tube.

This street vendor did not want me to take his picture .. so I took it on my return walk. Did I breach some ethical rule by doing so?

Early morning exercises are popular with people of all ages. Red track suits are common.

A grandfather and his grandson.

This is the grass and willow broom used by a street cleaner ... complete with a red sash.

Water well pump house.

Just a red dome on a building. (Taken in haste from the car window.)

Harbin at night.

Across the road from my hotel. This is a light red "diamond" in between the towers of a hotel.
A communications tower stands behind.

Outside an office.

Okay ... so the above picture of a "red brick road" is not real red.
Still, it is paved with red bricks at 300,000 bricks per kilometer!!

Like the red road, these smoked pig snouts are not very red. They were on display in a restaurant. I passed, thank you.

The red cheeks of a young lady.  I lightened this image, but did not enhance the red color.
