BALAGNO _ Myron P. Balagno With his family at his side Myron passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on Tuesday September 2, 2003, after prolonged illness. A long time resident of the North Shore, Myron will always be remembered by his wife Joyce; his children deLea, Tal and Kyle, their wives, Joanne and Lesli; and grandchildren Terra, Taylor, Eli, Leighton, Lauren; and sister and brother in-law Joe and Dolores Moss and children David and Sabrina. Myron was born in Victoria on December 31, 1929. In his early twenties he started his career in radio at CJVI. Within a couple years Myron moved to Vancouver to continue his work with CJOR and CFUN. After a successful career in radio he went on to pursue interests in Public Relations with Park and Tilford Distilleries. In 1972 Myron established MBA, a successful advertising agency that today, under the direction of his son Kyle, remains one of Vancouver's longest running agencies. Aside from Myron's passion for his family his second true love was his 1928 Ford Model A Roadster "Phoebe". For much of his retirement he enjoyed reminiscing with the friends he met through the Model A Totem Club. Myron spent many wonderful years singing with the Bach Choir. As past president his work and leadership will always be remembered. Myron was also an avid sailor. As past commodore members of Hollyburn Sailing Club are still enjoying his contributions today. Numerous summers were spent sailing the coast with a flotilla of friends. Myron was the one man that always had a joke or two for every occasion. Family friends and colleges had many a chuckle as one of Myron's carefully engineered practical jokes unfolded with precision timing on the unsuspecting target. Myron's kindness and thoughtful nature has touched many lives and he will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nursing staff at Lions Gate Hospital and Ambulatory Care Clinic for all their assistance. Myron had requested that in lieu of flowers a gift be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for the Myron Balagno Fund, 270 - 6450 Roberts Street, Burnaby, BC, V5G 4E1 (604) 320-1937. An afternoon reception will be held for family and friends at his home on September 21, 2003 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
