- I started racing in 1990 in Lake
Cowichan, B.C., Canada ...

and the hook was set! |

- I joined the Fraser Valley
Dragboat Association and attended nearly every race. I was soon
approached by Rick Bitz of Bitz Custom Boats who offered to build me
my present flat bottom "Nothin' Flat",
while taking my old "coffin" in on trade.
- Having immediate success with the
Fraser Valley Dragboat Association, we also decided to regularly
attend Columbia Dragboat Association events.
- Bracket wins came in 1992, 1993,
1994, 1997, 2003 and 2005 with the important specialty awards coming in 1993 as
"Sportsman of the Year" and 1997 "Outstanding
Driver of the Year".
- All this was made possible by a
dynamite crew including my wife Joka, crewchief Mike Swan (who is
always there when you need him), Al Swan, Gerry Boyle, Steve
Montgomery (Snarky), and Dave Armstrong (and of course my son Dylan
and daughter Michelle).
