Charlotte Lake is big and beautiful! It stretches about 20 km long
by about 6 km wide. This fishing paradise has beautiful snow-capped mountains
on its western shore and is loaded with master angler Rainbow Trout as
well as Kokanee. Generally Rainbow Trout average 3-5 BLS., but much larger
ones are often caught. The shoreline is covered with sand and gravel beaches
and the lake is surrounded by a pine forest. Charlotte Lake's water is
clear and deep. With many rocky shoals and submerged islands throughout,
it reaches depths in excess of 300 ft in spots. Because of this, Charlotte
Lake's water is very cold and only the brave ones would dare swim in it.
For those who are brave or just want to lay around on a nice sandy beach,
there are sandy beaches on both sides of us. The water in this lake is
Glacial runoff and as such is excellent for drinking. |

Fishing off of feeder creeks seems to work well and the outlet
into Little Charlotte Lake is a good fishing spot. Usually trollers
with lures will land more fish than the average fly fisherman.
There are not enormous numbers of insects but the trout are all
well fed and well sized. Charlotte Lake, being the size that it is,
warrants some caution due to winds and rough waters that can
occur as a result. |
