Márta’s
Reiki Room
Reiki has been instrumental in Márta
O'Reilly’s personal healing process and
it is the experience of the benefits of this ancient healing art that led
her to learn and subsequently to share this gift with her clients. She
studied with Reiki Master Bernie Morin of Lakefield for her first two degrees
in Reiki in the Usui tradition.
In 2001, she received Advanced Reiki Training as well as the Master Level
from Reiki Master Barbara McKell of Guelph. Her healing practice has been
very fulfilling. Only upon requests from several clients asking her to
teach this ancient healing art, did she realize that her next step had
to be to become a Master. The Master level enables her to pass on this
gift of touch to others with a similar longing to her own.
She has been practicing Reiki in the Ontario since 1994. Her move to the
beautiful city of Nanaimo, B.C. is a definite plus to her work with this
Universal energy.
With a background in the biological sciences, nutrition, spiritual direction
and counselling, Márta O'Reilly
brings
all these elements to her practice. She has been particularly successful
in treating survivors of abuse, dissociative disorders and people with
chronic pain.
Western Pragmatism and the Scientific Method have often been sceptical
of alternative therapies. Márta,
herself started out with a healthy dose of scepticism but the impact of
Reiki on eliciting a sense of well being and balance in people was the
necessary scientific proof, which moved her to this practice.
Since she began her practice, she has been privileged to share in the journeys
of many clients dedicated to the work of personal healing.

The history of Reiki, under this name, begins in
Japan with Dr. Mikao Usui, a minister and principal in a Christian Boy's
school in the early years of 19th Century scepticism. His students asked
Dr. Usui if he literally believed the Bible. He said that he did. They
then challenged him to demonstrate his belief by performing miracles as
Jesus had done. He was unable to do this. His students declared that his
was a blind faith and insufficient to bolster their own. He immediately
resigned his position to travel to a western country to learn to do the
miracles of Jesus. Of course he could find nobody to teach him. Therefore
he began to search the sacred writings for healing methods. Many years
of searching led him to the Buddhist Sutras. He studied Chinese to read
them in their original language. Then he learned Sanskrit since Buddhism
came originally from India. Finally he found the symbols of healing but
not the method for using them. He went away to Kyoto to a mountaintop considered
sacred by the monks and sat in meditation fasting for 21 days. On the last
day of his fast, he had an experience of being struck in the forehead by
a bright light. He lost consciousness for several hours. When he awoke
the symbols he found in the sacred writings were one by one made clear
to him. He now had the secrets he searched for and he knew this to be a
connection to the Universal Life Energy, which he called Reiki. It became
apparent that this was the healing that was used by all the holy healers,
Jesus included. He set up a clinic and had remarkable healings. From here
the story goes on to describe the way in which Reiki was taught and passed
on. There is a Reiki grand master in Hawaii and she has trained several
Masters who in turn train people like Márta O'Reilly. |
