4. Do I have to join NO KIDDING! in order to attend NO KIDDING! activities?

Each chapter determines its own fee structure according to its needs.

In the Vancouver chapter, prospective members are welcome to come to as many open functions as they like as non-members (for a nominal function fee, usually equivalent to one month's membership). Membership dues in the Vancouver chapter are currently $48 per person per calendar year. Basing it on a calendar year eliminates the need to remember when each person joined, and when their membership expires -- this way, everyone's membership expires on December 31st. You simply pay for the remainder of the year (at $4 per month), and you don't pay for the month in which you join. People joining in the fourth quarter are asked to pay for the remainder of the year, and the next year as well, so we're not hitting them up for dues a month or two after they've joined. Members and newcomers are sent information via e-mail about upcoming activities, including the name and phone number of the person organizing each event. Members receive current membership phone and e-mail lists, voting privileges at policy meetings, use of our "Interest Inventory" (a cross-reference index of members and their interests), admission to members-only events, use of our "Goods and Services Tally" (buy & sell), the right to bring adult guests (who may or may not be childfree) to open activities, a NO KIDDING! button (which also serves as a nametag), and they don't pay a function fee, unlike guests and prospective members.
