The
Nightmare movies became so big that there were
short-lived young adult novels called Freddy
Krueger's Tales of Terror by David Bergantino
and a TV series Freddy's Nightmare's which
Robert Englund directed and hosted playing his
Freddy Krueger character. Also due to Englund's
fame as Krueger he was cast as the title role in
the film The Phantom of the Opera in 1990.Wes Craven tried to make a new Nightmare
On Elm Street type film with the movie Shocker
but the film was a flop and sequels never saw the
light of day.
Although there was a film called Freddy's
Dead: The Final Nightmare, part 5 was the
true last Nightmare film trilogy as Krueger's
mother took Krueger away so he'd stop killing
people in their dreams and Freddy's Dead was just
a film for the fans as well as the other sequels
after it.
Shock rocker Alice Cooper had a
cameo in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
as Freddy's foster parent but Alice was
uncredited.
It took 10 years till they finally
made Freddy Vs. Jason as the project was
discussed for a long time but never filmed it
till 2002 due to production values, budgeting
etc.
Both John Carpenter's Halloween
and A Nightmare On Elm Street were both filmed in
the same neighborhood.
