What is the Geocache Army?

Sgt. Potx #54

The Geocache Army is an army of those little green men you played with as kids left by Terri and Kim Ferguson (geocachearmy FKA scootergirlandboy) at every geocache we've found and our many HQ all across the North Shore. Initial deployment of the troops began June 21, 2003 in Vancouver and North Vancouver. We now have soldiers in Canada, USA, England, France, Germany, Netherlands and Thailand. Others are reported to be on their way to Spain and Italy. See the links at the top to view who's traveled the farthest and most recently.

Why do you need my help?

Your involvement is critical to our mission so get out your GPS and start geocaching if you don't know what it is look for info on Geocaching.com. When you find one of the troops take him with you and deploy him in the next geocache you visit. Before you do so though note down his soldier number fill out the ONLINE FORM.

I have a picture of my soldier how do I get it online?

If you can take a picture with the soldier and send it along also via email. (armyman@geocachearmy.com)

My soldier doesn't have a name can I name him?

By all means if you've got a soldier and you've got a cool name, take a permanent marker and write it on the bottom. Include the given name in your report. And we'll update

How come my logs don't show up right away?

You're entries are logged manually into the database by our webmistress. Updates are done at least weekly but often nightly when there are lots of logs.

I found a soldier and his tag is falling apart, what do I do?

If you have the means to fix it please go ahead, this started as a project that is a much bigger sucess than we ever thought it would be and unfortunately we didn't have the means to protect the tags when we started. If you would like to act as a M*A*S*H for your soldier and need provisions to replace the tag with one that will withstand the elements drop us an email with your home address and we'd be happy to send one of our new laminated tags so your soldier can continue on his mission for years to come.

West Point Academy opens for recruit training. The Commander once strolled these grounds as a child and now he has decided to train his soldiers here. The first visitor to the base Mr. Gigabyte had a bit of a hard time finding the training center but we're sure you'll have no problem.
