Vernon between 5:45am -6:30am and Kelowna between 8:15am - 8:30am
We now will be setup on Bernard Ave/Abbott Street area close to The Sails sculpture by City Park. Look for my Blue Dodge with a table set up.
There is a new route for 2015.The Highway 97 portion from Bailey Road to Oyama has been eliminated. Instead as we climb out of Vernon we follow Commonage Road up and over Predator Ridge taking a right on Carrs Landing Rd following along the East side of Okanagan lake with spectacular views of the lake and vineyards. We turn right on Okanagan Centre Road West and follow up to Glenmore Road.

Gran Fondo Vernon is not a race. It is a time to ride with like minded cyclists that wish to challenge themselves for a ride through some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere in the world.
The ride fee of $40.00 is payable at the time of online registration. What a great way to celebrate our good health in support of the designated charity Independent Living Vernon
Gran Fondo 2016 Ride Information
WHEN: June 12th, 2015. Slower riders from Vernon start between 6:15 am - 6:30 am. B riders at 6:45am and A riders at 7:00 am.
WHERE: Start/Finish in Vernon from The People Place parking lot @ 25th Ave/27th Street. For any out of town riders this is at the south end of Vernon near where Hwy 97 meets 25th Avenue.
WHY: Spend a day with friends on a Challenging(166K/144K) ride through some of the most breathtaking scenery celebrating our good in support of a good cause for the designated charity Independent Living Vernon
WHAT: This is a casual semi supported ride with some food-muffins, cookies, etc., and water provided from the support vehicles.
Support Vehicles: Great News...Hilltop Subaru has come forward again to provide an additional 2 support vehicles
There will be 3 support vehicles along the route. These vehicles will have food and drinks for you along the route at the designated stopping points. You are responsible to carry your own bike repair items such as tubes and pumps on the ride.
Designated support stop locations will be:
1st stopping point will be in Kelowna at the the Sails sculpture on Bernard Ave/Abbot Street corner beside City Park which is at the 57K mark. Food and Fluids will be available at the Support Vehicles -Hilltop Subaru and (Blue Dodge Caravan).
Starting Kelowna riders must check in and drop off/sign waiver before joining the ride at the Sails sculpture on Bernard Ave/Abbot Street corner beside City Park. Look for the (Blue Dodge Caravan) parked near the Sails sculpture with a table set up..
2nd stopping point is at La Casa Resort which is at the 92K mark. Support Vehicle is available as you turn left at the waterfall entrance to upper cottages. Thestore and bathrooms are available and you will be advised of the location of bathroom from the volunteers at the food/hydration station.
3rd stopping point is at Hwy 97 and Spallmucheen Golf course entrance which is at the 127K mark.
4th stopping point at start/finish area of The People Place parking lot @ 25th Ave/27th Street will be the finish for Vernon starters and the last stop for Kelowna starters before they take their last leg of the route back to Kelowna.
Starting Locations (Vernon Only)
Vernon Starters: The People Place parking lot @ 34th Street/25th avenue. Look for the Blue Dodge Caravan for the area will we will parkGroup C (24K-26K avg.) will start at 6:15-6:30 am
Group B (27K-29K avg.) will start at 6:45 am
Group A (30K ++++) will start at 7am
Parking: Sunday street parking is free in Vernon. There is lots of parking around and behind the People Place building. Volunteers will also direct you to parking areas.
