Biography
Inspector R.W. (Bob) Rivers, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, retired in 1985 as Officer-in-charge, Traffic Branch, Province of British Columbia. During his service he was extensively employed in general police work, highway patrol, accident investigation, training, and planning and research. During his service, he was instrumental in the development of the R.C.M.P's Traffic Accident Investigation, Traffic Accident Analyst and Traffic Law Enforcement programs. During his service with the R.C.M.P. and since his retirement, Bob has authored many internationally recognized and used traffic accident investigation and reconstruction textbooks.
Over the years, Bob has become recognized as a leading authority in the traffic accident investigation and reconstruction profession. Since the establishment of the Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM), University of North Florida, he has been an adjunct faculty member who has acted as a technical advisor and who developed their correspondence training programs, researched and developed their blueBlitz, MiniBlitz, Commercial Vehicle, Marine and Aircraft accident investigation templates, and their Crime Scene template.
