Just 2 hours west of Victoria, the picturesque village of Port Renfrew, located at the southern end of beautiful San Juan Beach, close to the mouths of the Gordon and San Juan Rivers. While commercial logging and fishing originally put Port Renfrew on the map, the area is now also world famous for the West Coast Trail, other wilderness trails, scenery, whale watching and salmon fishing.

Our base is in the town of Port Renfrew and from there we take to the roads and the trails in the backcountry. We go high into the hills around Port Renfrew where the vistas are spectacular. In some places you can see distant points across the island. Port Renfrew is sounded by deep wilderness and wildlife is abundant. ATV tours are the only way to bring you up close and personal.

We highly recommend a trip to Botanical Beach, an ecological reserve that has some of the most fantastic tide pools you will ever see. When the tides drop below 4 feet, a shelf of the ocean is exposed and left behind are enourmous tide pools. Botanical Beach is just two miles from Port Renfrew plus a 20 minute trail hike from the parking lot. Botanical Beach is at the mouth of Juan de Fuca Strait and is one of the most beautiful places on Vancouver Island.

If you like hiking there are some excellent trails around Port Renfrew that we can direct you to. The whale traffic in Juan de Fuca Strait and along the western coast line is fantastic. Often you can see whales passing Botanical Beach and a whale watch tour will bring you up close and personal.
