You can create a list with Web sites which should be blocked. Every user has such a list and there is another list which appllies to all users. When user attempts to navigate to a blocked site, this message will be displayed in his Internet browser:
Site Blocked by
DM Net Time & Watch
A site is blocked if any of these conditions are true:
If you select "All users" check-box, the combo box with current user is hidden and a list which applies to all users is displayed.
To remove a site from list select it in the list then press "Delete selected
URL" button . Multiple selection is allowed.
If "Partial" check box is checked then the item in list is not a complete name. For example instead of www.addictinggames.com it could be just "addictinggames". This would be a partial name which can block any Web site that contains that name. Such partial name cannot have an associated IP address. If the name is complete, then "Partial" check box should be kept clear. As a result the associate IP address is found out (you need to be connected to Internet to perform the DNS lookup to get the IP address). If the IP address is found, then the site is blocked even if the user attempts to navigate using the IP address instead of the friendly Web site name.
The IP address for all (multiple) selected items is
refreshed if the button is pressed on toolbar.
The "URL Path" column allow to block just some pages from a Web site. For example if the site is www.cbc.ca and the "URL Path" is 'news' then the user is blocked when attempts to navigate to www.cbc.ca/news but it is not blocked when it navigates just to www.cbc.ca. All Web pages which contain on their path the word specified in this column will be blocked.
When you press "Save" or "Save All" buttons on main toolbar, the lists of sites are saved.
Using "Export..." button the list can be saved in a "comma separated values" file (.CSV) or plain text (.TXT) file. With import you can populate the list with data previously stored in a "comma separated values" file (.CSV) or text file (.TXT). When importing the web site list from a text file all new items are considered to be partial and URL Path is empty. After import you have to decide which item is partial or not and clear the check boxes accordingly. "Comma separated values" exports/imports everything for each entry - this is the preferred storage format. The .TXT format is supported for backward compatibility.
If you click on the column headers then the list is sorted alphabetically according to clicked column.
Each item in list has a check-box on first column. If you clear the check-box, the item is ignored (like it was not present in the list).
