Painting
Cabinets
 Things You'll Need
Primer Sealer Stain Blocker
Roller
Solution:
You're painting your kitchen
cabinets, the prep work is done. Now it's time for the
priming and painting.
Use a good quality multi-purpose primer-sealer-stain
blocker for the best adhesion and coverage. A tip, if
you're planning on painting the cabinets a darker color
have the primer tinted and you'll save yourself a couple
of coats of paint!
The order of work is going to be the same for priming and
painting. Start from the inside and work your way out. So
inside back, bottom, inside top, inside walls then the
outsides. This way you know that you won't smudge your
finished work by reaching past it! Also, a roller is going
to make life much easier when priming the cabinets. Once
the primer coat is completely dry, move onto the paint.
Here's a technique that will give you the ease of a roller
and the smooth finish of a brush. Use a brush to cut in
all the edges, and all the details for cabinet doors and
drawers. Then roll the paint onto a small section at a
time. Run your brush through the paint in long overlapping
strokes, this applies the paint quickly but gives you a
nice professional finish.
I finished this section earlier in the week. Isn't it
amazing what a difference a couple coats of paint makes. |
