I believe that my passion
for miniatures started when
I was sent a miniature Christmas tree by my Grandmother in England when I
was about 4 years old. I also received some Louis Marx furniture that was
called "Little Miss Deb". However I did not realize I had this passion
until my parents picked up a dollhouse kit at a garage sale in 1994.
They
were trying to decide which grandchild to give it to.
I said "No way, I want
it". I had always wanted to build a dollhouse. Before I even got the kit
from my parent’s house I could not sleep planning how I was going to
decorate it.
I grew up around ceramics,
as my parents made and sold "full size" ceramics. After
my kids started school I decided to go back to work. For a few years
I worked at a ceramic studio and
then at Canadian Ceramic Wholesalers, where I became a
certified Duncan
teacher. I took all of my knowledge from ceramics and put it together with
my love of miniatures. That is how Montacute Miniatures came
to be.
