Michael Methot

With more than 30 years of experience in the entertainment business I have created opportunities in corporate production, studio television, concert and convention touring, standard theatre, musical theatre, independent video/film shoots and political campaigns as well as some truly rewarding forays into alternative events such as raves and traveling art shows.

The challenge of bringing together elements of equipment and crew is immensely satisfying. I thrive on operating inside a team of people that understand the spirit of co-operation and communication necessary to present a work of art and acknowledge behind-the-scenes efforts.

My interest in lighting started when I first saw the original “Twilight Zone” by Rod Serling. Everyone has to have a hero; he is mine.

After being captivated by how control of light and shadow could compliment or distract from the emotional intent and intensity of dialogue, I was hooked. Later, researching Rod Serling himself, I found biographies about how he prized communication and artistic freedom, and therefore enabled a happy, respecting core crew. That is how I run my team.

Lighting design is where I started, but I branched out to front-of-house audio, as well as theatre fly systems and rigging because of good people who taught me things about those trades which gave me an all-around base of information that is invaluable and supports the lighting aspect.

All experience is brought forward, giving me a creative edge to use techniques and equipment from other types of entertainment and apply them to the current issues of function and form.

In the early years of touring, I recognised that transportation was an important element of production. Wanting to make myself more desirable to production houses and artist management, I acquired a Class 1 license. That was 27 years ago. In that time I have logged an estimated 5 million kilometres all over North America with a variety of productions and commercial transport companies. This too, is invaluable experience when dealing with permit applications in the different jurisdictions of Canada and the US.

V Logistics was formed to identify myself, Michael Methot, to a diverse base of clients that currently use my services for producing events in different realms of the live and studio environments. I encourage you to click on the links to the left and explore how we can team up to produce your event.
