Purchase Information and Contact |
Payment methods accepted are PayPal, International Money Order, and cash (well hidden if mailed). Payment must be received in full before the piece is shipped. Shipping costs will depend on the size/weight of the piece and the destination shipped to, usually $40-50 within Canada and the US. Please email for shipping estimate, specifying which piece, location, postal code or zip code. If you'd like me to ship farther, (Europe, Australia, etc) it will cost quite a bit more- fast shipping can be very high, slow (4 to 6 weeks) shipping is less.
Mirmy will pack each piece with great care and will advise buyer on best way to repair piece if any damage occurs. Most damage can easily be repaired with a glue gun or wood glue. In an effort to reduce shipping damage, some super-easy assembly may be required.
Pick up purchases (Vancouver BC, Canada) will naturally not be charged shipping. If you are charged shipping on Paypal, I will refund all charges immediately. Or contact me and I will invoice you.
Commissioning a Piece- Many people like a piece that has been sold and have asked that I make them a similar piece. This is not a problem. The piece would be similar, but not exact. This type of work takes about 1-2 months (sometimes a bit longer) to complete, and the cost is about the same as the piece that inspired the work. A 30% deposit is required prior to beginning work.
Commissioning a Human Piece- Purchaser can guide the piece (pick an era, style, colours, bone, etc) and a unique piece will be created using these guidelines. The price of the work will be negotiated depending on complexity, cost of the bone, and if a biography is desired. Expected cost for this type of custom work is $1500 +.

For the past several years, Mirmy has created thematic shrine-like boxes to house a variety of precious remnants, from taxidermy and animal skeletons, to human bones. Each box is adorned to amplify a personality that she envisions, often accompanied by narratives expressed in both painted and written form. These creations range from humorous to tragic, such as the hypnotist with a shrieky voice to the sailor who cannot find sleep for six years.
Mirmy was born and raised in Winnipeg where she graduated with a degree in Philosophy from U of M. Currently, she is working on her Masters in Visual Arts Ed at UBC in Vancouver. Mirmy began showing her art publicly in 2005, with her first show breaking the gallery's record for sales, in the second gallery space (for guest artists) at The Gatchet in Vancouver. Since that time, she has participated in well over 25 group shows in Vancouver, New York, New Orleans, Las Vegas, LA, and Berlin, as well as 5 solo shows, including her most recent solo show Letters from the Dead at Vancouver's JEM Gallery in June 2008. Mirmy is also a proud member of MART (Minnesota Association of Rogue Taxidermists) which is a collective of taxidermist artists who follow a ‘no kill' code of ethics. Through this association, her art has become known worldwide.
Influenced by classical art, religious icons, vintage circus art, tattoo art, and other lowbrow artists, specifically Liz McGrath, Mirmy's work is an undeniably unique combination of these and many other genres. Aware that her use of real human and animal remains causes some viewers to simultaneously feel intrigued and horrified, Mirmy hopes that those who view her work, recognize that her work is filled with reverence, and that it is her sincerest hope that those who's remains her work holds, approve of their homage.
