The establishing of thought as a power for direct control of situations and circumstances: this is what you are about to experience through your training- yes! You must make the required effort. Your powers will grow and develop just as you did from the womb to this day. There is no magic to this process the effort is not a hard one and it's well worth it. Thought power is an excellent guardian and its protective shield is the first aspect of this power that you will experience. To always be in the position of having any given situation turn out to your advantage, is just one of the privileges I enjoy and so can you.
The technique you will be using is the same one that has gotten you this far in life. From your day of birth till the day you die, you are able to improve your capacity to function by enhancing your basic knowledge. Every form of effective functioning is developed by first enhancing ones basic sense of awareness. To change the way you think is to change the way you function- so lets get started.
THE SOLO approach to spiritual development, is the means by which anyone can train and practice at accessing mind power by developing their spirituality. But exactly what does the word spirituality mean? If I were to use the words car, tree or house, a very definite image comes to mind as to what those words mean. By contrast, the word spirituality has no specific meaning. Each person has his or her own meaning to that word. The word spirituality is effectively powerless; it can mean anything to anyone.
Focusing is the method we will be using to access mind power. It's a matter of clearly defining certain keywords so as to experience the power represented by those words. Any one old enough to read this information is also aware of the effect of harsh or kind words and how they can cause ones emotions to stir. Words incite riots, wars, love, or hate and we are about to use that fact to incite our own accessing of mind power. For example, words such as Spirit; Spirituality; Father; Man or God, represent specific levels of power and to properly understand those words, is to gain access to the power they represent.
What can you expect to gain from this mind setting exercise? You will experience the same effect as focusing light into a beam. Just as you can see further and aim light more specifically with a flashlight than with a lantern, so must the mind be focused spiritually for you to experience mind power. The ability to focus light can brighten darkness and empower a person to move from a helpless state (lost in the dark) to an effective one; (being able to see and function most effectively in darkness) it is likewise with the accumulation of useful knowledge. For example, it is by gaining access to useful information through your schooling that you are now able to read and write. On the other hand information that is lacking clear definition is virtually useless and cannot be put to any effective usage even though that information may be viewed as important or worthwhile. Humans tend to store information that they consider valuable even if they cannot prove or experience its effectiveness: They store it in the form of a belief system. The human awareness of spirituality is held in our minds as a variety of belief systems and by clearly defining certain common keywords in our beliefs about our spirituality; the power hidden in those beliefs can be extracted. To access this higher power I will be mentioning some specifics from the teachings of Jesus. This is knowledge that we must have, for our own protection; it is not for the establishing of a religion.
This technique we will be using is not new - in the bible book of Matthew at chapter three verse nine to twelve a character called John, pointed out this focusing method for advancing ones spirituality, to the religious leaders of his time. He did so in order to aid in the correction of a popular misconception of that time period. It was the concept of genetic superiority. These religious leaders believed themselves to be entitled to accessing thought power as a result of their genetic heritage. The followers of those leaders saw their leaders as the link to God. (The proper meaning of the word god will be dealt with later). The two mind sets of the people and their leaders were in direct conflict with the next step in the very process they were suppose to be aiding and this is where the teachings of Jesus comes in. He is the one who first mastered the Solo approach to thought power awareness. However, his solo approach could not support the religious beliefs of his time. Keep in mind that the people did not see themselves as entitled to a direct and personal relationship with this higher power they called God. In their eyes it was the priest who made contact on their behalf.
Jesus was about to come on the scene to teach that, no one is genetically entitled to accessing higher power and that access is made possible, only by a personal effort of direct involvement. To aid the masses in grasping this improved concept, a character identified by the name John - put those who wanted to be involved through a process they called baptism.
The process painted a picture the people could relate to: John took these converts and immersed them in a river, then brought them safely back up from under the water. The point being: that it was quite safe to become personally involved so long as one knew the limits of the situation one is getting involved in. They did not need someone state the obvious things such as; you will not drown if it is not my intent to forcibly keep you under water which is quite safe for wading (not deep enough to pose a serious drowning threat). Neither do you need someone to constantly remind you about things that should be a matter of common sense for any one who wants to further his/her thought power awareness. For example - no responsible adult should have to be constantly reminded not to commit murder, steal or practice violence.
Another point that the baptism process helped the people to grasp was that one must regain control of their life in any learning process. You cannot be a life long dependent student. This point would have been very clear as they came up for air and were quite happy to be back in control of their own lives. John introduced the masses to the concept of totally emerging oneself in ones objectives or becoming a believer. It's the only way one can become a natural at a learned skill.
Another method we will be using therefore, is to believe in the accessing of thought power. Lets now apply what we learnt earlier about focusing to the concept of believing in. To believe in anything is to first know how to be most effective at it and then make the effort that is necessary to see full effectiveness.
As humans we learnt to walk and speak the language of our parents by calling on the power to believe in walking and speaking as we saw our parents doing. We saw our parents speaking and walking erect, we knew to keep up our effort to be efficient at speech and walking would bring us success. We did not settle for any thing less than being a chatterbox that can motor along at full blast. A fully effective childhood is therefore the celebration of believing in ones own thought power.
This is your first experience in these writings of actually seeing the empowering method being put to use. In this case, its the concept of believing in that has been given specific - personal power enhancing meaning. It's a matter of defining phrases and words to indicate a specific practical function. What I am trying to get you to understand here is this: to agree with or find something acceptable is not the same as believing in it. If you believe in it, you actively pursue having it as a natural part of your ability to express yourself. Therefore, no longer must you confuse acceptance or being in agreement with, as believing in.
The steps to believe in something are (one) to be informed that it can be experienced; (two) to know what you personally must do to experience it and finally the (third step) is to lock yourself into experiencing it to the fullest, a final matter of making that effort. For example, if someone said to you "I believe in Solo thought power", you would automatically know those 3 things about that person. Once again lets look at words such as car, truck, hand and bus. Now see how in each case a definite practical picture comes to mind as to what those words mean, and then add the phrase believing in to the list. Your mind should now also come up with the new well defined meaning of what it means to believe in.
How can you tell when you are making the proper effort? By focusing your desire. In other words, it's a matter of monitoring your willingness to put in a consistent effort. I am not the promoter of a religion so don't expect me to push or drag you. I only supply the necessary higher definitions of reality you must be willing to see and pursue the benefits. For example, you can make it a point to ask yourself, what are the three steps to believing in an objective or what is focusing all about.
You have just finished taking a look at the basic methods, which will be used to strengthen your spirituality and make it possible for you to experience thought power. Now lets look at the first step to be taken.
The first step to accessing thought power, is a matter of your willingness to adjust certain misconceptions held in various forms by all humans. Human progress has always relied on the ability to correct our own misconceptions and what we are about to do is personalize that method. Rather than focusing our corrective energies on the faults in others, we will focus that energy on ourselves first. You have already employed this strategy in your own life by learning to read; that's why you are now able to read this information.
Just as fingers are required to easily and comfortably hold onto an object, improved spirituality is also necessary in order to experience the comfortable use of ones mind as a power. The foundation of your consciousness must become your spirituality. That foundation must also be made very specific: absolute. In order to obtain spiritual absoluteness, the focused definition of your spirituality must become: unite with a power that is properly identified as The Father. You must come to know and understand this power. In order to do so, your spirituality can no longer allow for a concoction of unproven or vague spiritual concepts and ideas. Your spirituality must become the basic knowledge and power of awareness on which your mind draws in any given situation. For example, the basic foundation of a doctor's mind is not the same as that of a lawyer, plumber, electrician or a blacksmith.
Everyone who has specialized his or her ability to function has done so through improving his or her basic state of awareness. A doctor's basic mind-set includes a firm grasp on the knowledge of medicines and how to safely use them while a blacksmith would have concentrated similar efforts on metals and how to put their specific qualities to the most effective use. In each case the fundamental awareness of the mind is enhanced so that a persons mind can draw on specialized knowledge to function.
We can therefore speak of the spirit of a doctor, a carpenter, or that of a murderer and a thief. In each case we would be speaking of that persons fundamental state of consciousness: where that persons mind goes for basic know how on how to function.
Jesus revealed his spirituality to be a guiding power, a spirit he identified as The Father. (Spirits are explained in tutorial number two) The spirituality of Jesus was the basis of his unusual abilities: his Thought Power. Thought power is ability: The ability to make things happen by thought. It is through access to thought power that anyone can become aware of the power source Jesus identified as The Father. The focused definition of your spirituality must become the power Jesus identified as - The Father. Union with The Father is the highest possible state of mind power awareness.
Now lets do a little review.
1. What is thought power?
2. What must the focused definition of your Spirituality become?
3. What is the highest possible level at which one's spirituality can be developed?
The problems you will encounter in your attempt to access mind power are all a matter of human design. It's quite the paradox really: as humans we are entitled to mind power but we are designed to oppose such development. Why and how this paradox came to be will be addressed in the book. For now we will concentrate on solving the problem.
Although many and varied are the persons who can cause you misery only one thing stands in the way of an effective and corrective response and that's your built in lack of dedication to spiritual absoluteness. The SOLO approach to spiritual development is designed to effectively overcome our built in opposition to mind power. The privacy of the SOLO approach makes for greater ease in correcting ones own shortcomings and it's the ability to make the necessary corrections in one's own point of view (spirituality) that will lead to mind power.
So far we have learnt about strengthening our spirituality by focusing powerful words and concepts. Words and concepts such as spirituality and believing in were focused. We also got to see the basic principals of Jesus' teachings. However, do not get caught up in a religious mindset. This information is not intended to establish a following. It's for personal use only. This is why it is called the Solo approach. The objective is to have the student become conscious of the Father, which is a matter of sensible, responsible spiritual guidance.
