PRESIDENT

Yvonne Aydon  R.E.T., R.T. (EMG)

Yvonne.Aydon@viha.ca

PRESIDENTYvonne Aydon

I did my basic training in Newcastle, England passing the ECNE board exam in 1984.  I was blessed to be mentored by the very brilliant John W. Osselton who encouraged me to immigrate to Canada in 1985 at the age of 19.  I thought I’d give it six months …

I have worked in Victoria B.C. ever since, obtaining my Canadian Registration in EEG in 1986 and EMG registration a decade later.

What I love about my job is the continuing on the job learning, facing new challenges, learning from and interacting with BCIT students and hanging out at work with great friends (Frank Sanz, Alison Walton, Rhonda Lee and Jacque Lineham).

Outside of work I enjoy golfing, keeping fit and partaking of the odd bevy or two at our local neighbourhood pub.  My personal vision and mission statement is …

My purpose is to be committed to creating a centre of excellence at work, encourage ongoing professional development and improve educational opportunities for colleagues and students. I will focus my energy, encourage teamwork, resolve never to quit no matter what the situation, remain true to my values and appreciate the love and fun that my family and friends surround me with.

As of the Spring meeting held during Neurosciences Day, I have taken over the Secretary/Treasurer position from Cayle Stewart.  This will be the first position I will have held on the BCSET executive, and I am looking forward to meeting those members I have not met yet, and continuing to keep in touch with those I have.  Thank you to Cayle for all of your help in making the transition a smooth one!

Some background: I hold a Bachelor degree from the University of Victoria, and graduated from the BCIT program in 2006.  Since then I have been happily employed in Victoria by the Vancouver Island Health Authority.  I received my R.E.T. designation in 2007 and am currently working towards eligibility to write the EMG exam.

I am currently also serving as Registrar for this June’s CAET meeting being held in Victoria.  This meeting will be a great opportunity to showcase our province, and another opportunity for me to put faces to names.  I’m looking forward to seeing many of you in Victoria in June!
