Sample Web-based Active Learning Projects

Projects might include having your students:

  • Participate in online discussions (e.g. conferences - asynchronous or chat - synchronous).

  • Present and moderate an online discussion about relevant material of their choosing.

  • Participate in group discussions and presentations.

  • In a small group, create a web-based virtual field trip for class presentation.

  • In a small group, create a web-based scavenger hunt, for the rest of the class to use to explore a relevant topic (of the small group's choice).

  • Research and participate in a RealAudio panel discussion.

  • Create concept builders in which they select sets of web sites that illustrate the critical attributes of a particular concept or subject.

  • Participate in WebQuests - a group activity where students take different roles, tasks or perspectives and examine complex (often disputed) issues.

  • As a small group, create a website of about topic of their choice.

  • Evaluate and provide peer feedback on Web-based class projects.
