Directions

  1. Fill in the blank with what you believe is a correct answer to the statement or question.
  2. Then click the "PA (Possible Answer)" button to the right of your answer to compare your answer to ours. If all of your answer agrees with our answer then all of it will remain in the box. If it is partially correct, your answer will be erased to the right of the correct letters entered.
  3. If you can't figure out the answer, then click on the PA (Possible Answer) button for a suggested answer. Note: you may have a different but equivalent answer (thus the term "PA - possible answer" for the "solution" button).
  4. Use the Clear Answers button to erase your answers.

1. To avoid being in the middle of every online conversation, design for student to interaction.

2. An online discussion or bulletin board allows online teachers and learners the ability to participate in (at different times) discussions.

3. Online Chat and Whiteboard tools are examples of tools that enable real-time or (at the same time) communication.

4. Cooperative activities encourage interdependent groups of learners to work together, with guidance from faculty.

5. How many postings per week would ensure that your students "feel" your presence in an online discussion? .

6. Create a forum or discussion thread for conversation and questions. Use this forum at the beginning of the class as a place where students introduce themselves and respond to other students.

7. As in a face-to-face setting, learning provides the learner with peer support and a sense of responsibility to the group to keep up with activities.

8. What type of posting provides learners with closure and helps to ensure a common level of understanding?

9. If certain students are dominating the discussion, email them and ask them to back off a little and let shyer students contribute.

10. When students are participating in an online debate, ensure that your students are of various points of views and respond to postings with evidence supporting their point of view.
