  • He began to formulate an interest in art in grade school.  He was
selected to take art lessons at the Winnipeg Art Gallery.  His interest
in art lessons began to fade by the mid-teens and solely focused his
attentions on pen & ink media.

  • As he neared retirement from Shell Canada, the muses began to
tap his shoulder and he earenstly began to paint.  He jumped
in with both feet and re-discovered the world of painting at the
Forum Art Institute in Winnipeg.  Michael was exposed to many different
artists and art philosophies.  Those people helped to redefine his
creativity and establish a personal artistic direction.

  • Over the years he's had the great pleasure of working with some of
his favorite local and international artists including Roy Fijal and Luther
Pokrant of Winnipeg, and Frank Webb of Pittsburgh, PA.

  • Michael prefers working with acrylics and water colours. These media
express the feelings & moods of the images he sees.

  • The primary sources of Michael's works includes still life images, old buildings
such as log cabins, barns, and heritage structures, and land/sea scapes.

  • He has been commercially producing works for the past 20 years, primarily on
commission paintings.  Michael also enjoys teaching basic painting & brush
techniques to neophyte artists including school age children. He hopes he can
inspire another young artist to embark on a journey of artistic delight.
