PART 1: INTRO
 
- The Maya Interface
- Setting up a Project and Maya Intro
- Basic polygon modeling
 
EXERCISE: Make simple objects and edit them with Maya modeling tools.
OBJECTIVE: - To quickly get you familiar with using Maya to create basic 3D objects.
 
PART 2: NURBS AND CURVES
 
- NURBS - Definition
- Creating NURBS shapes with curves
- NURBS - Tools
- Converting NURBS to polygons
 
EXERCISE: A series of short exercises provided.
OBJECTIVR: - How to use NURBS to create simple and complex objects.
 
PART 3: DICE (MODELING AND UV MAPPING)
 
- Basic modeling skills
- Adding materials and textures
- Basic UV mapping and texture editing
 
EXERCISE: Build a pair of dice and texture map.
OBJECTIVE: - To create a simple model, UV map it and apply a simple texture map.
 
PART 4: BUILDING A STICKMAN AND SIMPLE SKELETON
 
- Build a simple human body with cylinders and spheres
- Learn to use Layers
- Setting up hierarchies and parenting
- Build a simple skeleton
- Editing pivot points
- Set animation key frame
 
EXERCISE: Build a simple stickman, name, organize the body parts and animate.
OBJECTIVE: - To build and properly organize a standard skeleton.
 
PART 5: RUBBER BALL & BOUNCING BALL
 
- Use basic animation skills
- Creating translation, rotation and scaling key frames
- Using the Graph Editor
 
EXERCISE: Animate a sphere bouncing across the screen.
OBJECTIVE: - To set key frames and edit them in the Graph Editor.
 
PART 6: JUMP AND WALK CICLE ANIMATION
 
- Applying animation to a character
- Types of key frames
- Learn to use the Graph Editor
 
EXERCISE: Create a character animation.
OBJECTIVE: - How to analyze movement and animate a character.
 
PART 7: LIGHTING
 
- Lighting Concepts
- Basic 3 point lighting
- Cornell box Lighting
 
EXERCISE: Create and light a simple set.
OBJECTIVE: How to create and use different types of lights available in Maya.
 
PART 8: LOW POLYGON SPACESHIP
 
- Creating a detailed object from a cube
 
EXERCISE: Create a jet from a polygon cube.

PART 9-11: CAMERA AND MOTION PATHS
 
- Creating a camera
- Setting camera attributes

EXERCISE: Create and animate a simple camera.

PART 12: CUSTOM PROJECT, OR PROJECT GIVEN BY INSTRUCTOR
