( Contact me for more info) August 21st: I'm just starting a new painting on a 30 by 40 inch canvas as you can see in the photo from my studio below. I'm using a Chinese ink brush with liquid acrylic paint (as well as regular brushes) - I like the lines this brush creates - painting with this kind of brush feels different from painting with a regular brush for acrylics. June 4th - New paintings I just put new paintings on my home page - if you are on my mailing list you received my email with the details and prices. I will have a one night exhibiton at the Federation Gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver on June 24th, 6-8pm and will have paintings exhibited in the Federation gallery June 29th to August 15th. I have been posting short videos of how I was creating my new "Girl In White Dress" painting on my Facebook Fan Page here: http://www.facebook.com/MartinaShapiroArt May 16th - video of new painting : I am just working on one last painting on canvas and then I will put all my new paintings on my website and email those of you on my mailing list. February 2009: I'm just finishing some bigger paintings on canvas and should have them online in a couple weeks. I am also participating in an art exhibition at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver March 3 - 15th and working on some other art projects. July 17th: I just put 18 new paintings on my website . I sent an email to those of you that are on my mailing list with the new paintings and their prices. I also put some new videos of me painting on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/MartinaPaintings April 17th, 2008: I will be away in La Quinta, California and in Las Vegas from April 19th, coming back to Vancouver April 28th. I started several new paintings, one of them a 48 by 12 inch nude that you can see me working on in my studio in the photo below. the Cure breast cancer foundation. September 24, 2007: I put my 19 new paintings on my home page and emailed those who are on my mailing list to let them know. Some of the paintings are already sold. Please not that I am going to be in Las Vegas from Sept. 27th to October 1st. If you need to contact me during this time, please phone me: 604-802-6942 July 1st, 2007: I just put 11 new paintings on my website. June 13th, 2007: I have completed several new paintings on paper (including nudes) and am just finishing two big nudes on canvas. Among my new paintings on canvas is a large oil painting of tulips, an abstract landscape in acrylic and I might also finish one or two new face paintings in oil that are quite striking and unusual and a result of my experimentations. I think I will have my new paintings on my website by the end of June. You will receive the notification email if you are on my mailing list (email me if you would like to be on it). April 26th, 2007: I have just put 13 new paintings on my website, if you are on my mailing list you have received the email and price list. I have also written a basic FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page - I welcome any suggestions you might have or issues you would like me to address on this page (email me ). I am participating in a group exhibition of art in the Federation Gallery in Vancouver May 15th to 27th. February 4th, 2007: I put 6 new paintings on my home page on Friday. Some are already sold. There was an interesting (at least for me, since I sell most of my paintings online) article in the NY Times paper today ("You’ve Seen the E-Mail, Now Buy the Art" By JORI FINKEL Published: February 4, 2007: "It’s another sign of the acceleration of the contemporary art market: New works, even in the six-figure range, are sold by digital image alone."). January 30th, 2007: I have finally finished the big 3 by 4 feet reclining nude and am really happy with it, it might be one of my best ones yet. I have to wait for it to dry a bit before I can photograph it and then I have to create all the webpages for my new paintings, but I should have the new paintings on my website by the end of this week. A Canadian TV station selected me as a featured artist for their TV series about Canadian artists - they filmed an interview with me and they also filmed me painting this new nude and another new painting on paper. I will try to record the show when it's on TV and put at least part of the video on my website.
