I have gotten so many of the same questions asked of me that it seems I need
what is wicca?
Do all wiccans practice magick?
Is everyone who practices magick wiccan?
Do wiccans worship the devil?
How can I find other wiccans in my area?
Where do I find wiccan supplies?
I am a beginner, what are some good books to read?
I am a beginner, Can you send me information on Wicca?
a frequently asked questions page. It seems easier to do it this way than to
answer every email with the same question individualy. I hope this is helpful.
Wicca is a religion which is primarily goddess based. it celebrates nature
and seeks to live in harmony with her. It is an old pagan religion from before
the rise of christianity. It honors a goddess and a god, who are symbolized by the
moon and the sun. It is a religion which allows you to be yourself. there is no
set of rules, you are free to believe whatever you want, it is an eclectic
religion.
No, magick is commomly used among wiccans, but it is not nessessarily a part
of the wiccan religion. just like not all wiccans read tarot cards, not all
wiccans practice magick, but the majority do.
No, magick is a skill you learn, just like reading. You do not have to be
wiccan to practice magick.
No, definitly not. That is a christian idea, used to scare the pagans to
christianity. They were told that the horned god they worshiped was the devil,
the adversary of god and any who worshiped him would rot in hell for eternity.
Check at your local occult and new age stores, they sometimes carry wiccan
and new age magazines and through them or the shop owner, you might be able
to get in contact with other wiccans. Also try wiccan chat rooms. It is a great
way to find people to talk about wicca and have any questions you might have
answered. They are usually very nice and very willing to answer questions.
For tools such as athame's, wooden bowls, chalice's, wands and such,
try second hand stores and garage sales. They are a great way to find
items really cheap. For athame's try a knife store, they usually have a
wide selection to choose from. My own athame is really a small boot knife
and it works very well. Herbs and spices can be found at your local supermarket.
Some of the most common herbs are the ones with the most uses. For oils and
incence try the dollar store, or if your tastes are a little more expensive
try new age stores. Candles can also be found at the dollar store for very
cheap and not too bad quality. They usually carry a variety of colors and
scents of votive's, perfect for spells. Cauldrons can be found at kitchen
shops, they usually sell little cast iron pots that work perfectly. There
are also online occult shops. They can mail you a catalog and you can
order through mail.
Scott Cunningham seems to be the best, his book "Wicca for the Solitary
Practioner" is highly recommened. Any other books by Scott Cunningham are
probably really good to start with as well. A little more advanced, but very
good books are "Wiccan Magick" and "The Wiccan Mysteries" by Raven Grimassi.
He is one of my favorite authors. Gerina Dunwich is also a good author,
check out "Wicca Craft" by her. She writes a lot of spell books, the
spells are really good and very easy, also very effective.
All the information I have currently is on my page, that would be the
one you are reading right now. I will not be sending all of it to you
through email. If you have a specific question, ask me and I will reply.
But if you are just too lazy to actually read through my pages, I can't
really help you.
