George the Conure

This is a picture of Cousin George who also lives with us. George is an Orange Fronted Conure (Aratinga Canicularis Ebonirostrum). Orange Fronted Conures are inhabitants of western Mexico. They're also known as Petz' Conure and as the Half Moon Conure in North America. In Spanish, he's a Periquito Centroamericano.

Conure Fact:A conure is a New World Parrakeet whose range extends from Mexico to the southern tip of Argentina.

Conure Fact:The Mitred Conure is larger than the smaller Macaws and the differences are very small. Whereas Macaws have a characteristic bare cheek Conures have feathered cheeks.
