A letter to the Secretary of Records in Chassepierre about some information on the Letain family leaving Chassepierre for the Americas revealed that the Letain residence in Laiche was at no. 7 rue Marcy. A visit to Laiche in 1977 and inquiry of one of the town elders Odon Mernier who was related to the Letain family and a visit with that person to no. 7 Marcy St. showed that the old Letain house was still standing (note houses were made of stone in that area). However the house had been covered by a modern layer in front, though the rear of the house had not changed much. The current owner then was Jules Maréchal. A couple of pictures taken in 1977 are displayed here

Pierre Ignace and his two sons Jean Ernest and Jean Baptiste, with their wives, as well with Jean Ernest's two sons Frederic and Julien and Jean Baptiste's daughter Marie Eugénie moved to the Americas 1892. It seems like Pierre Ignace's wife Jeanne Marie (Rampelle) either never came to the Americas or came and returned. She apparently did not like it here. According to the marriage records of Chassepierre, she had refused to attend the weddings of both her sons, apparently disapproving of their marrying Hussons. They settled somewhere between Deleau and Oak Lake in Manitoba. They stayed there homesteading for awhile then followed the Turtle River Trail to the village of Laurier. Apparently Jean Baptiste with his family decided to head for the Whitemouth area, while Pierre Ignace went with Jean Ernest and his family to Laurier.
