According to the Chassepierre records, Jean Baptiste was a baker by trade. After moving to Canada, however,he worked for the C.P.R. as a section foreman in Lac du Bonnet.
Jean Baptiste was well off for his time. He owned pieces of land. He had a good size farm north of town. He apparently owned four or five houses in Lac du Bonnet and rented them out.
He also had a barn, sold milk and chickens to people. He pulled weeds out of the alphalfa. He also liked to smoke the pipe and fish in the Winnipeg River with young Gus Wickman, when the river flooded. Or sometimes they fished on the town docks. They caught jacks and pickerel. They sometimes also used a pitchfork.
.Jean Baptiste died in Church. He ran the church bell, sat in the backseat. and died of a heart attack. Young Gus Wickman was with him (Gus Wickman).
