Joseph Desjrdins - Adwilda Maurice

Joseph Desjardins - Adwilda Maurice

Desjardins, Joseph-marié en 1903 à Adwilda Morice, née à Waterville, Etats-Unis et venue à St-Pierre en 1902;p partis pour Dollard, Saskatchewan.

Joseph Desjardins was born according the 1901 Manitoba census on Dec. 7, 1877. Joseph Desjardins came to St. Pierre in 1902. He married Adwilda Maurice on July 17, 1903 at the age of 26 years.

He arrived in Dollard from Ste. Anne, Manitoba. Maurices came from Ste. Anne. Came around 1910 to Dollard. Joseph took a homestead close to Dollard. The land in the area was very alkaline, so it was not productive. So Joseph moved to town. He had a little house in town. Joseph was a handyman. He worked for local farmers, especially during harvest. He also worked for some time for the Department of Highways. He was considered to be slow but sure. Joseph and Adwilda lived in Dollard all their lives. They were considered to be quite, peace-loving people. They were regular church attendees. Adwilda was especially ‘scrupulous’ when it came to religion.

All the indications are that the Joseph Desjardins-Adwilda Maurice family has become extinct. There are no descendants left from that family.
