John Mallindine and Sarah Colquhoun

The first known record of John is his marriage certificate. He was 30 years old when he married Sarah Colquhoun in July 1868. At the time, he was living in Southall, Norwood and working as a French Polisher. His father is listed as William, a Boot and Shoe Factor. No birth record has been found for Sarah. At the time of her marriage, she was also living in Southall, Norwood and listed as a widow. Her father was William Barden, a labourer. Sarah had previously married Thomas Thompson Colquhoun in West London in 1860.

On 30 March 1870, the family left London and travelled on board the 'Lake Erie' for Canada. They arrived in Quebec on 29 April 1870 and soon after moved to Toronto. The family appears in the 1871 Census of Canada, living in St David's Ward, Toronto East. John's occupation is listed as Upholsterer. In 1881, the family was living in York East and John was working as Hotel Keeper.




Charles Frederick
He was born in Maidstone in 1867. He married Jennie (date unkown) and had three children: Maud, John Charles and Edith Minnie. He died in Canada in 1949.

Lucy
She was born in Maidstone in 1870. She married Arthur Sargent.

Minnie
Born in Toronto, Ontario in 1871. She appears in the 1910 US Census, living in Omaha, Nebraska with her sister Jane Tyner. She later married Charles Cunningham Rhodes.

Alice
Born and died in Toronto in 1874.

Annie
She was born in Toronto in 1875. She married Frank Stark. Annie died in 1953.

Jane
Born in Toronto in 1876. She married Frederick Tyner. They appear in the 1910 US Census in Omaha, Nebraska. Frederick's occupation was listed as clergyman. They had two children: Wilhelmina born in 1905 and Richard born in 1907. According to the census return, the family moved to America in 1908.

John
Born and died in 1877.

George Arthur
He was born on 9 February 1881 in Toronto. He married Isabella Campbell. They had three children: Russell George, Marian and Charles. Russell died in England in 1944 while serving with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps.
